KUWAIT CITY, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait calls for the utmost restraint amid the recent developments in Iraq, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
The international community should bear its responsibilities in maintaining security and stability of the region, steering it clear from escalating actions, the ministry said in a statement.
The tension between Iran and the United States has escalated following the killing of an Iranian commander in a U.S. airstrike.
Iran's top leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed "severe revenge" after the killing of Major General Qassem Soleimani, commander of Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), in a U.S. airstrike in Baghdad on Friday.
