BEIJING, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- The added value of China's copyright industry reached 6.63 trillion yuan (about 951 billion U.S. dollars) in 2018, accounting for 7.37 percent of the country's GDP, according to the China Academy of Press and Publication Tuesday.

The industry's added value in 2018 increased 9 percent over the previous year and 55 percent from 2013, showed a report recently issued by the academy.

New industrial forms including news and publication, broadcasting, software and advertising sped up integration, pushing for fast development of the core copyright industry, the report said.

Nearly 16.46 million people were employed by urban units in the industry in 2018, accounting for 9.53 percent of all the employees at urban units, the report said.

In 2018, the trade volume of commodities in the industry rose 5.66 percent from 2017, the second consecutive annual growth.
