HANOI, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Four Lao drug smugglers were arrested in Vietnam's central Quang Binh province for transporting 60,000 pills of synthetic drugs, the Vietnam News Agency reported on Wednesday.
The province's border guard forces coordinated with the authorities of Laos' Khammouane province to crack down on a trans-border drug trafficking ring and caught four red-handed with 60,000 pills of synthetic drugs, including a man aged 28, two women aged 21 and another woman aged 26.
The authorities of the two countries were investigating the case, the news agency reported.
According to the Vietnamese law, those convicted of smuggling over 600 grams of heroin or more than 2.5 kg of methamphetamine are punishable by death. Making or trading 100 grams of heroin or 300 grams of other illegal drugs also faces death penalty.
