BARCELONA, Spain, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and eight others injured following an explosion at a chemical plant in the northeastern Spanish city of Tarragona on Tuesday evening.
Local authorities confirmed to Xinhua that an employee of the factory, who was missing following the blast, was found dead on Wednesday, bringing the death toll to two.
Eight others were injured, two of them in critical conditions due to the blast at the plant which treats ethylene oxide.
The explosion caused a huge fireball and powerful shockwave.
The company, named Iqoxe, is the only producer of ethylene oxide in Spain and has around 120 employees. The causes of the explosion are still not known.
