HANGZHOU, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- A traditional Chinese opera is displaying its charm in African countries.
Authorities have launched a tour of the Wuju Opera in Nigeria, Djibouti and Tanzania as part of cultural exchanges between China and the African countries.
Since 2009, the Zhejiang Wuju Opera Troupe has performed more than 300 shows for 4.5 million people in 46 countries and regions, said Wang Xiaoping, head of the troupe.
"We have made some changes to the original opera to help our foreign audience better understand our country," Wang said.
The Wuju Opera is a traditional form of music from east China's Zhejiang Province. It has more than 500 years of history and contains six different tones.
