JAKARTA, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's national U-19 football team will play five friendly matches against South Korea and Thailand ahead of the 2020 AFC U-19 championship.
The matches will take place during the team's 12-day training camp in Chiang Mai, Thailand, according to Indonesian Football Association chairman Mochamad Iriawan, who added that a squad of 28 players had left for Chiang Mai on Monday.
"These matches will give opportunities for coaches Shin Tae-yong and Indra Safri to monitor the team's performance," he said. Shin is the new coach of the Indonesian national team and Safri is his assistant.
Indonesia will take part in the 2020 Asia U-19 championship from October 14 to 31 in Uzbekistan, as well as the 2020 AFF U-19 tournament.
In addition to those two tournaments, Iriawan said that the Indonesian squad is also preparing for next year's FIFA U-20 World Cup. Enditem
