WARSAW, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Kamil Stoch won the individual competition in Zakopane on Sunday with jumps of 137.5 and 140 meters to secure his 35th victory in the ski jumping FIS World Cup.

The Saturday's team competition was really frustrating for the hosts as the Poles, who counted on standing on the podium, came in fifth. However, the next day the ski jumpers coached by Michal Dolezal showed a masterclass.

Kubacki landed at 140 meters at his first jump to lead before the final round ahead of the German Stephen Leyhe and Stoch. The three-time Olympic champion kept the pressure on his rivals to jump on 140m and turned out to be a winner.

The Austrian Stefan Kraft also made a stunning performance as he moved from fourth place into second after he jumped 138 meters in the second round.

Everything was in Kubacki's hands but 4-Hills Tournament winner couldn't stand on the top as he jumped 133 meters to take the third place and secure his 9th consecutive podium.

"I wasn't very lucky this season. I was still looking for something, something was missing. But this is an evening I could not have dreamed of. We have the best fans in the world. Winning ahead of audience is unbelievable. What I dreamed about I get in the best possible place and the best possible time," Stoch said.

"I do not want to announce that I will be in such a good form to the end of the season. There are still many difficult competitions ahead of us and the level is very high. Sometimes with good jumping it is not possible to take places in the top six," added the victorius ski jumper.

Karl Geiger of Germany sits the top of the FIS World Cup general classification with 931 points followed the Austrian Stefan Kraft (883 points) and Ryoyu Kobayashi from Japan (831 points). The next competition will be played from January 31 to February 2 in Sapporo, Japan. Enditem
