LHASA, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tibet temporarily closed its scenic attractions to tourists starting Monday to help battle the novel coronavirus epidemic, according to the tourism development bureau of the autonomous region in southwest China.
The measure aims to avoid tourist gathering and cross infections to effectively block the spread of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Tibet, the bureau said.
Chinese health authorities announced Monday that 2,744 confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus, including 461 in critical condition, had been reported in the country by the end of Sunday. The outbreak has resulted in 80 deaths. Fifty-one people have recovered.
