BEIRUT, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Lebanese army received on Thursday a donation of vehicles to transport police dogs, as well as educational and training equipment from France, the French embassy in Lebanon said in a statement.

The donation aims at enhancing the capabilities of the army in discovering explosions within the framework of fighting against terrorism.

France also plans to establish a training center for police dogs.

The statement added that, France has offered Lebanon military equipment valued at 55 million euros (about 60 million U.S. dollars) since 2017.

The total contribution of France to Lebanon's security reached half a billion U.S. dollars during the past five years, said the statement.

"This reflects France's commitment to enhancing the capabilities of the Lebanese army," it said.
