XI'AN, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The 2020 Yangling International Marathon, which was scheduled for April 12, will be postponed in order for better prevention and control of the novel coronavirus outbreak, organizers said on Thursday.
"In conformity of the nationwide efforts to curb the 2019-nCoV virus and to ensure the health of all runners and attendances as well as the China Athletics Association's notification, the Yangling International Marathon which was slated for April 12 will be postponed," the Yangling Sports Bureau said in a statement.
"A new date for the race will be announced later," added the statement.
Yangling is an agricultural hi-tech industrial demonstration zone in northwest China's Shaanxi province.
Over 20,000 domestic and international runners took part in the 2019 edition of the Yangling Marathon, which featured five categories - full marathon, half marathon, 5km, 3km and family run.
