BERLIN, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Chancellor Angela Merkel remains Germany's most popular politician, according to a poll conducted by the opinion research institute Forsa and published on Monday.
In the first Forsa ranking of the year, Merkel received 59 out of 100 points and maintained her rating from the last ranking. Forsa regularly determines the level of trust German citizens have in their country's politicians.
"The great trust in Angela Merkel shows that she is perceived as a kind of presidential chancellor who stands above party bickering," Manfred Guellner, head of Forsa, commented on the results.
German Green Party leader Robert Habeck follows Merkel in second place with 50 points, down by just one point over the previous survey, despite being widely criticized for his aggressive statements about U.S. President Donald Trump in Davos.
Habeck labeled a speech delivered by Trump at the World Economic Forum in Davos as the worst he had ever heard in his life.
