WINDHOEK, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Namibia recorded fewer cases of criminal activity during the 2019/20 year, with cases dropping to 73,299 from 100,780 during 2018/19, the Namibian Police said on Tuesday.
Namibian Police inspector general Sebastian Ndeitunga said the crime rate dropped during the phase one to five of the joint crime prevention and police led operation 'Kalahari Desert', countrywide.
The operation involved the Namibian Police Force, Namibia Defence Force, Namibia Correctional Service, Windhoek city police and other relevant stakeholders in the fight against crime.
"I am pleased to report that operation 'Kalahari Desert' has indeed registered magnificent successes in combating crime and the public is appreciative of the positive impact the joint law enforcement forces have made towards the provision of safety and security, hailing such joint operations must continue," Ndeitunga said.
