ISLAMABAD, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- At least eight people were killed and five others injured on Tuesday after a multi-storey building collapsed in Muzaffargarh district of Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, local media reported.
According to the reports, the three-storey residential building collapsed in Qinwan Chowk area of Muzaffargarh city.
Rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the district hospital in the city.
Local reports quoting rescue sources said that at least four children and two women are among the deceased.
The death toll might further rise as all of the wounded persons are in critical condition, the reports said.
Local residents told media that three families were living in the old building that suffered several cracks in its structure after the neighboring shops were demolished for fresh construction.
