AMMAN, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- Jordan on Thursday condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's announcement to build 2,200 housing units in East Jerusalem.
In a statement by the foreign ministry, the ministry's spokesperson Deifallah Fayez stressed Jordan's rejection of the Israeli settlement policy in occupied Palestinian territories.
The official added that the Israeli measures are illegal and represent a breach of the international law and UN resolutions.
The Jordanian official called on the Israeli government to immediately cease such practices.
He also urged the international community to take serious steps against these measures that undermine the two-state solution and kill peace opportunities.
