BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Xu Guang, former vice governor of central China's Henan Province, has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and dismissed from public office over serious violations of Party discipline and laws, the top anti-graft body announced Friday.
The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission said in a statement that Xu was suspected of taking bribes and should receive serious punishment.
An investigation found that Xu received illicit money and gifts and traded power for money with illegal enterprise owners.
He took advantage of his posts to seek benefits for others in terms of position adjustment and promotion, business operation and case handling and in return illegally accepted a huge amount of property and money, according to the statement.
Xu violated the eight-point code on Party and government conduct by attending banquets that could influence fairness in official duties and using vehicles of his subordinates and those whom he should service without compensation for a long time.
He lost his ideals and convictions, was disloyal and dishonest to the Party, resisted authorities' investigation and had been engaged in superstitious activities, the statement said.
Xu's illicit gains would be confiscated and the suspected crimes will be transferred to the procuratorate for further investigation and prosecution, it read.
