SOFIA, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) on Monday afternoon confirmed two more outbreaks of the highly pathogenic H5N8 bird flu in a week.
The virus was confirmed in farms for laying hens and ducks in the villages of Trilistnik and Padarsko respectively, only 15 km southwest and 12 km northwest of the town of Rakovski where the previous case was confirmed last Monday, the agency said in a statement on its website.
All measures would be taken to eradicate the outbreaks. In particular, 55,437 laying hens and 11,600 ducks in the farms would be culled, the statement said.
