Volunteers in Beibei District of Chongqing Municipality have played an important role in the control and prevention efforts of the COVID-19.
CHONGQING, March 3 (Xinhua) -- A total of 1,216 volunteers work in buildings scattering in the Beibei District of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality to help control and prevent the COVID-19.
Since the outbreak of the virus, they have volunteered as guards to check the residents' information, stop entry from outsiders, and introduce the prevention and control knowledge to the community.
Most of the volunteers, with an average age of 58, are retired people. They spend their own time for the benefit of others. Some even regard this job as a pleasure. "I'm happy that I can still do something for my community after my retirement", said Huang Yuanjun, one of the volunteers.
