DAMASCUS, March 9 (Xinhua) -- Turkey has sent around 650 military vehicles and hundreds of soldiers into Syria since a Russian-Turkish cease-fire went into force on Friday, a war monitor reported.
On Monday alone, 50 Turkish military vehicles entered northern Syria through the Kafr Lusin crossing in the northern countryside of Idlib Province in northwestern Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The Britain-based watchdog estimated that 4,050 Turkish military vehicles and 9,100 soldiers have entered Syria since Feb. 2.
Russia and Turkey agreed on a cease-fire in the de-escalation zone in Syria's Idlib on Thursday, after a six-hour talk between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The agreement came after direct confrontation between Turkey and Syrian forces which took place several times in Idlib over the past two months since the Syrian forces launched a campaign against the Turkey-backed rebel groups in Idlib late last year.
