KIGALI, March 15 (Xinhua) -- The Rwandan judiciary Sunday announced a decision to suspend court operations countrywide for two weeks, effective Monday, as a precautionary measure to curb coronavirus spread.
The decision is in line with government guidelines on curbing coronavirus spread and will affect case hearings and related services, said a statement by Rwandan judicial Spokesperson Harrison Mutabazi.
Citizens have been encouraged to apply Integrated Electronic Case Management System currently used by citizens to report cases online.
People seeking other court services from relevant judiciary authorities have been advised to use free line 3670 and online portal Sobanuza Inkiko in Kinyarwanda, a system which helps the public to send messages via the internet portal.
Rwanda on Saturday announced the suspension of places of worship and educational institutions for two weeks following the confirmation of the first case of COVID-19 in the country.
Earlier on Saturday, Rwanda confirmed an imported case, an Indian national from Mumbai who arrived in the country on March 8 without symptoms before testing positive on March 13.
