PARIS, March 17 (Xinhua) -- The European football governing body UEFA has decided to postpone this summer's European Championship to 2021 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The Euro 2020 was scheduled to take place in 12 cities across Europe from June 12 to July 12, 2020. The proposed new dates are June 11 to July 11, 2021, the UEFA said after it held a video conference with its 55 member associations.
All UEFA competitions and matches (including friendlies) for clubs and national teams for both men and women have been put on hold until further notice, it said. The UEFA Euro 2020 play-off matches and international friendlies, scheduled for the end of March, will now be played in the international window at the start of June, subject to a review of the situation.
