TUNIS, March 17 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian President Kais Saied declared on Tuesday evening a curfew across Tunisia as part of the preventive measures against the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

"The curfew will take effect from March 18, and will be carried out from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.," Saied said in his speech broadcast in the state television channel Watanya.

According to the president, the return to normal situation should take place within a maximum of 15 days, depending on the epidemiological situation both in Tunisia and abroad.

Tunisia announces 24 confirmed cases of COVID-19 till Tuesday.
