PHNOM PENH, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Monday expressed his profound gratitude to China for having provided medical experts and supplies to the country for combating COVID-19 pandemic.

"Cambodia sincerely thanks China for having sent medical experts as well as a lot of medical equipment and supplies to help Cambodia fight the COVID-19," he wrote on his official Facebook page.

"A friend in need is a friend indeed," he said.

A team of seven-member Chinese medical experts from south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region arrived in Cambodia via a special chartered plane late last month, bringing along with tons of medical supplies to assist the country to combat the virus.

Besides, Chinese companies have also donated medical supplies such as face masks, protective suits and test kits to the country in a bid to help stem the virus spread.

Cambodia has so far recorded a total of 114 confirmed cases of the COVID-19, with 53 patients cured, according to a Ministry of Health statement on Monday.
