BAMAKO, April 6 (Xinhua) -- The death toll from the attack on the Malian armed forces (FAMa) base in Bamba, northern Mali, rose to 25, Malian government said Monday night in a statement.
"The provisional toll indicates 25 dead among Malian soldiers, 6 wounded and a dozen of enemies neutralized," the statement said, adding "the reinforcements dispatched to the area have enabled our FAMa to recover some lost materials."
Strongly condemning "this shameless cowardly attack by terrorists," the government praised "the bravery and determination" of the soldiers who fought in offensive.
Monday afternoon, the FAMa confirmed one of its bases in Bamba, northern region of Gao, was attacked by terrorists around 5:15 a.m.
