Kelei Pengcuowangjia, 31, is the founder of Yushu Spinal Cord Injury Organization, a mutual-help group for people suffering from spinal cord injuries. Kelei, who got his spinal cord injured in a car accident in 2011, knows better about the physical and mental pains than anyone else. Then he conceived the idea to find and help more people with spinal cord injury at his hometown Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, where a catastrophic earthquake killed thousands of people ten years ago. In 2018, Kelei founded the Yushu Spinal Cord Injury Organization. Thanks to the organization, people who suffer from spinal cord problems often get together to learn crafts making, bakery or coffee making techniques. More than 30 members are now receiving vocational training provided by the organization. "We even founded our own basketball team and dancing group," Kelei said, "and I hope to see people with spinal cord injury can embrace their future in a positive way." (Xinhua/Zhang Long)
