A high-speed rail loop that connects major cities in China's southwestern region started operation on Friday, according to the local railway operator. The route, extending 1,290 km, connects Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, Chongqing Municipality, and Guiyang, capital of Guizhou Province. One trip takes around eight hours.
