DAMASCUS, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Some unknown gunmen attacked a U.S. vehicle in northeastern Syria on Monday, causing injuries, the state news agency SANA reported.

The unknown assailants ambushed the U.S. vehicle, which was carrying U.S. soldiers and fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), near the village of Rowayshed in the southern countryside of Hasakah province, said the report.

It added that the car went out of control and a number of its occupants were wounded.

On April 6, a joint patrol of U.S. forces and SDF was ambushed in the countryside of the eastern province of Deir al-Zour, near the administrative borders of Hasakah, which led to the killing of a U.S. officer and two SDF members, according to SANA.

The SDF, with the help of the U.S., controls large swathes of Hasakah province and a few areas in the Deir al-Zour province. Enditem
