BEIRUT, April 21 (Xinhua) -- The Lebanese parliament approved on Tuesday a law legalizing cannabis cultivation for medical and industrial use, MTV channel reported.
The global consultancy firm Mckinsey & Co previously stated that legalizing the cultivation of cannabis in Lebanon would release up to 1 billion U.S. dollars in revenue for the government.
Mckinsey suggested exporting the country's rich cannabis crop for medicinal use which previously divided Lebanese political opinion.
Lebanon is currently in dire need for additional revenues amid financial and economic deterioration and a debt default. Enditem
