BERLIN, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The trial against the last three defendants in the tragic case of the German music festival Love Parade which left 21 dead was finally closed without a sentence, the responsible local court announced on Monday.
The trial ended with the agreement between defendants and the public prosecutor after long proceedings, according to the court in Duisburg.
On the basis of an overall assessment and all circumstances of the tragedy, the court concluded that "despite the serious consequences of the offence, the possible individual guilt of the defendants for the tragedy must be regarded as low at this stage."
A total of 21 people died and more than 650 others were injured when a mass panic broke out at the popular techno music festival in Germany almost ten years ago,
Six officials of the city of Duisburg and four employees of the event organizer had been charged with involuntary manslaughter and negligence leading to personal injury. In February 2019, proceedings against seven of the ten suspects had already been closed without a sentence. Enditem
