DAMASCUS, May 4 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. forces on Monday moved a number of Islamic State (IS) prisoners from Syria's northeastern province of Hasakah to Iraq, the state news agency SANA reported.

Six vehicles of the U.S. forces entered Syria from Iraq earlier on Monday and headed for the city of Shaddadi in Hasakah countryside where it took IS prisoners and went back to Iraq, said the report.

On April 27, the U.S. forces took IS prisoners from Shaddadi to Iraq, said SANA, adding that the U.S. is "recycling" those militants to use them in other battlegrounds.

The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) run prisons in northeastern Syria with the help of the U.S.-led anti-terror coalition.

The U.S. forces also control several oil fields in the Hasakah countryside with the SDF. Enditem
