The east Rongbuk Glacier, like Mount Qomolangma's many other glaciers, is formed under the impact of the Indian Ocean's warm and moist air masses.

MOUNT QOMOLANGMA BASE CAMP, May 5 (Xinhua) -- The Rongbuk Glacier is located on the vast area between 5,300 to 6,300 meters above sea level at the foot of Mount Qomolangma in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

Chinese surveyors prepare to remeasure the height of Mount Qomolangma in May.
