KAMPALA, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Uganda's ministry of health on Monday reported eight new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total to 97 in the East African country.
Out of the 2,246 samples run at Uganda Virus Research Institute, eight tested positive for the virus, according to the ministry's statement.
Six positive cases are out of 2,061 samples taken from truck drivers, while two cases are from the community.
Five of the truck drivers tested positive arrived through the Kenyan border post of Malaba, while one via Tanzania's Mutukula point of entry.
Uganda currently has 97 confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 55 recoveries. Enditem
