CHANGCHUN, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Northeast China's Jilin Province reported three new confirmed COVID-19 cases on Saturday, local health authorities said Sunday.
The provincial health commission said the three domestically transmitted cases in Fengman district in the city of Jilin were either close contacts or once had contact with earlier confirmed cases in the district.
The district's risk associated with the virus has been upgraded from the medium-level to the high-level after reports of the three new cases.
The tally of confirmed cases and death toll in Jilin was both revised up by one after an elderly person who earlier died from underlying illnesses such as cardiovascular disease was confirmed to have contracted the virus, the commission said.
Changchun, capital of Jilin Province, reported one new asymptomatic case on Saturday. The case was a close contact of a COVID-19 patient in the city of Jilin.
By Saturday, the province had reported a total of 125 locally transmitted confirmed cases, including two deaths and 95 who had been discharged from hospital after recovery. There are still 28 patients receiving treatment in hospital, all in the city of Jilin, and 938 close contacts of locally transmitted cases under medical observation.
The city of Jilin has tried to cover more people in its nucleic acid testing, with more than 40,000 locals tested over the past three days. Enditem
