BEIJING, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Renowned Chinese space scientist and planetary physicist Wan Weixing died of illness in Beijing Wednesday, an official statement said. He was 62.
Besides being the lead scientist of China's Mars exploration mission, Wan was a member of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress, a member of the Central Committee of the Jiusan Society, and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Senior Chinese leaders expressed their condolences over Wan's death. Enditem
