WUHAN, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Central China's Hubei Province, once hit hard by COVID-19, introduced 30 measures to boost consumption and promote economic growth on Friday.

In 2019, the total retail sales of consumer goods in Hubei exceeded 2 trillion yuan (280 billion U.S. dollars). But the COVID-19 outbreak has taken a heavy toll on the province's consumption, especially in hotels, catering, tourism and automobile sales, officials said at a press conference held by the provincial headquarters for COVID-19 control.

The measures included a shopping festival in June, speeding up the approval and issuance of housing loans, optimizing and adjusting the summer schedule for work and rest, and other policies that could stimulate consumption.

In the meantime, subsidies will be offered to buyers of new energy vehicles, auto replacement and rural buyers, and the building of 5G base stations. Travel agencies will also get funding support from the government.
