At the same time, more than 7,600 students in their final year from senior high schools returned to campus Monday in Jilin, a city previously hit by the COVID-19 epidemic in northeast China's Jilin Province.
To ensure safe class resumption, the Jilin municipal bureau of education had completed between May 30 and June 7 free nucleic acid testing for a total of 22,579 people including final-year senior high school teachers, students, and those who live together with them. All of them tested negative for the coronavirus.
Three districts in the city of Jilin have been classified as low-risk areas of COVID-19 starting from Sunday as the epidemic wanes.
