BEIJING, June 18 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislature is considering draft revisions to the Archives Law to further facilitate the availability and use of archives.
The draft revisions were submitted Thursday to the ongoing session of the National People's Congress Standing Committee for the second reading.
Records in the archives at the county level or above should be made available to the public 25 years after the date of formation, and records related to economy, education, science and culture can be accessed by the public in less than 25 years, read the draft.
According to the draft revisions, China encourages the use of records in the archives for educational and cultural purposes through themed exhibitions, lectures and promotions.
The draft highlights the importance of informationization and information safety of archived records.
The draft also stipulates that the archives should focus on guaranteeing the authenticity, integrity, availability, and safety of digitalized records. Enditem
