A section of the Yinchuan-Xi'an high-speed railway in northwest China completed track-laying on Thursday. The 618-kilometer-long railway links Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, to Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province. The section in Shaanxi is 326.7 kilometers long. The track-laying started in November 2019. The section applies ballastless tracks in tunnels and ballasted tracks in other parts. The high-speed railway is scheduled to start operation by the end of 2020. With a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour, it will reduce the travel time between Yinchuan and Xi'an to about three hours.
