TEHRAN, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Omani counterpart Yusuf bin Alawi on Monday held talks on closer cooperation in diverse areas.
In a video conference, the two ministers discussed a broad range of issues, including the latest regional and international developments as well as Iran-Oman relations, Tasnim news agency reported.
The two ministers stressed that mutual consultations should continue for enhancing the cooperation of the two countries.
Iran and Oman have close diplomatic, economic, and commercial ties.
Oman played an important role in facilitating the early stages of nuclear talks between Iran and the world powers which resulted in the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Iran and Oman have also held several naval exercises in the Gulf and the Sea of Oman in recent years. Enditem
