BEIRUT, June 23 (Xinhua) -- The Middle East Airlines, Lebanon's national carrier, announced on Tuesday that foreign passengers must undergo PCR tests over COVID-19 concerns, the National News Agency reported.

The airlines requested that passengers coming from countries which provide PCR tests should undergo the test within 96 hours before takeoff time at laboratories licensed by local authorities.

Passengers must show their results at check-in counters and those who test positive will not be allowed to board.

Meanwhile, travelers who arrive in Lebanon from countries that do not provide PCR tests ahead of boarding will undergo the test upon their arrival in Lebanon.

The Middle East Airlines added that passengers who aim to visit Lebanon must have a health insurance policy covering the duration of their stay in the country including a coverage for the treatment of COVID-19.

Also, passengers who show symptoms of COVID-19 will not be allowed to board the plane.

Lebanon will reopen its airport on July 1 to receive tourists and compensate for its millions of dollars in losses despite continuous increase in infections. Enditem
