COLOMBO -- Sri Lanka sees a 91.06-percent recovery rate of the COVID-19 patients, local media quoting the country's health ministry reported on Monday.
Only 159 infected patients were still hospitalized and receiving medical treatment as of Monday afternoon, out of the total 2,076 patients who were detected since the first local patient was reported in March.

NEW DELHI -- India and the World Bank signed a 750 million U.S. dollar agreement on Monday to support an increased flow of finance into the hands of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), that have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, said an official statement issued by the Ministry of Finance.
The pact has been signed under the "MSME Emergency Response Programme."

BAGHDAD -- The Iraqi Health Ministry on Monday confirmed 1,796 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections nationwide to 62,275.
The ministry also reported 94 more deaths, raising the death toll from the infectious virus to 2,567 in the country.

BEIJING -- More than 11 million people in Beijing have been given nucleic acid tests since the resurgence of domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases in June, local authorities said on Monday.
As the epidemic situation eases, local authorities have lifted the lockdown of 54 residential communities in districts including Xicheng, Haidian and Fengtai, Pang Xinghuo, deputy director of the Beijing center for disease control and prevention, told a press conference.

RAMALLAH -- Palestine on Monday urged Israel to shut down all borders and crossings in order to stop the spread of the COVID-19, citing it as one of two main reasons for the surge in the infections.
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Ishtaye said at the opening of the weekly cabinet meeting that Palestine will send a request to the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO) to overlook the control over the borders, due to Israel's denial of the Palestinian request to set up a control mechanism at main entrances into the West Bank.

KUWAIT CITY-- Kuwait on Monday reported 703 new COVID-19 cases and five more deaths, raising the tally of infections to 50,644 and the death toll to 373, the Health Ministry said in a statement.
Currently, 9,270 patients are receiving treatment, including 152 in ICU, the statement added.

MANILA -- Philippine authorities on Monday said that one of the metro train lines in the capital city Manila will stop operating for five days starting Tuesday after 186 train personnel tested positive for COVID-19.
The Department of Transportation of the Philippines on Monday reported that a total of 186 Manila Metro Rail Transit System Line 3 (MRT-3) employees tested positive for the virus, including 11 ticket sellers, two train drivers, two control center personnel, and one nurse from one of its stations. The rest are depot personnel, it added.

TRIPOLI -- The National Center for Disease Control of Libya on Monday reported 57 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country so far to more than 1,000.
In a statement earlier on Monday, the center said it received a total of 632 suspected samples, of which 575 tested negative and 57 positive.

ISLAMABAD -- Special Assistant to Pakistani Prime Minister on Health Zafar Mirza confirmed on Monday that he had quarantined himself at home after being tested positive for COVID-19.
In a tweet, the official said that he has mild symptoms of the disease, and has isolated himself as per medical advice and is taking all precautions under home isolation. Enditem
