SUVA, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Fiji reported on Tuesday two more new COVID-19 cases, bringing the current number of active cases to three in the island nation.
Fiji's Acting Permanent Secretary for the Health Ministry James Fong said on Tuesday that one patient is a 37-year-old man, whose father, a 66-year-old man had been tested positive on Monday. They have been moved to a hospital in Lautoka, the second largest city of Fiji for treatment.
The other confirmed case is a 36-year-old woman who was confirmed on Tuesday morning. All of them returned to Fiji from India on a repatriation flight on Saturday.
Fong said that the rest of the 105 passengers on the same flight will be tested on Wednesday.
He stressed the importance for Fijians to work together in fighting COVID-19.
Fiji has reported 18 COVID-19 patients so far, and the country declared on June 5 itself free of COVID-19 after the remaining three patients had fully recovered. Enditem
