Cinemas in most parts of the Chinese mainland reopened Monday, ending months-long closures meant to contain the outbreak of COVID-19. In many cities, tickets for Monday screenings were quickly sold out. The China Film Administration gave greenlight to cinemas in low-risk areas to resume operation starting from July 20 with effective epidemic prevention measures in place following an improvement in the COVID-19 epidemic situation.
