Zhang Xiong once worked as an IT man in Beijing, and now lives a "xiaokang" life with his vineyards at hometown.
China has set 2020 as the target year to finish the building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects, known as "Xiaokang" in Chinese.
PENGSHAN, July 25, 2020 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Xiong, a 34-year-old fruit farmer in Guoyuan Village, now plants 67 mu (about 4.5 hectares) of grapes.
He returned to his hometown from Beijing in 2010. Shortly after his return, a car accident and the following treatment cost left him penniless. After his recovery, the village provided him with professional planting guidance and also helped him to apply for a loan.
His grape planting career started to make a profit in 2013. He bought a house in the urban area of Pengshan District in 2014 and purchased a new car last year. "My next goal is to expand the planting scale and improve the infrastructure of my plantation," said Zhang Xiong.
