Shandong beat Zhejiang to edge towards Chinese men's volleyball league semis

QINHUANGDAO, China, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Shandong marched towards the semifinals of the Chinese men's volleyball league after outlasting Zhejiang 3-2 in a second round match here on Tuesday.

Shandong twice came from behind to beat Zhejiang 20-25, 25-21, 21-25, 27-25 and 15-10 to lead Pool F with three victories and no losses.

Zhai Dejun spearheaded Shandong with 19 points, with Wang Jingyi and Ji Daoshuai adding 16 and 14 points respectively.

Zhang Guanhua and Zhang Jingyin had 23 and 20 points for Zhejiang, who lie second in Pool F behind Shandong with two wins against one loss.

Earlier on Tuesday, Beijing swept Fujian in three sets for their first win in Pool F.

In the second stage of the 13-team league competition, the top eight teams compete in Pool E and F in a round-robin format, with top two finishers from each pool qualifying for the semifinals. Enditem
