ANKARA, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Turkey's COVID-19 cases increased by 1,502 to a total of 261,194 on Tuesday, Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said.
Meanwhile, 24 people died in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 6,163, Koca tweeted.
Turkish health professionals conducted 98,231 tests in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall number of tests to 6,521,640, he said.
A total of 887 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, raising the total recoveries to 238,795 in Turkey, Koca noted.
The rate of pneumonia in COVID-19 patients is 7.4 percent and the number of seriously ill patients is 811, he stated.
Turkey reported the first COVID-19 case on March 11.
