MOSCOW, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- A Russian MiG-31 fighter has intercepted a Norwegian plane over the Barents Sea following an identical incident the previous day, the Russian Defense Ministry said Wednesday.
"On Aug. 26, Russian airspace control systems detected an air target approaching the Russian state border over the neutral waters of the Barents Sea," the ministry's Zvezda broadcasting service said in a statement.
The Russian crew identified the aerial object from a safe distance as a Norwegian Air Force P-3C Orion patrol aircraft, it said.
After the Norwegian plane flew away from the Russian border, the Russian jet returned to its airfield, Zvezda said.
On Tuesday, a Russian MiG-31BM was scrambled to chase off a Norwegian P-3C plane in the same region. Enditem
