SANTIAGO, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Chilean Health Ministry said Saturday that a total of 408,009 COVID-19 cases have been reported nationwide with 11,181 deaths.
According to the ministry, 2,033 new cases and 49 more deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
Chilean health authorities also reported that 381,183 patients have recovered from the disease.
Given a decline in infections, the Chilean government has implemented a gradual reopening plan in order to reactivate the economy and resume face-to-face work.
To this end, quarantines have been lifted in different parts of the country and non-essential trade has resumed though areas that are still seeing a significant increase in cases remain under restriction. Enditem
