BISHKEK, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's health authorities announced Friday the recovery of 40,631 COVID-19 patients or 90.7 percent of all the infections since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, including 144 people in the last 24 hours.
Ainura Akmatova, head of the Public Health Department of the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan, told a briefing that 77 new COVID-19 cases have been registered over the past day, raising the nationwide tally to 44,761.
Meanwhile, the death toll in the country stands at 1,063, and no new death from the virus was reported in the previous 24 hours.
At the same time, she said that currently 514 patients are being treated in hospitals, while 2,165 people are receiving treatment at home.
Akmatova also said that Kyrgyzstan's health authorities continue to pay compensation to medical workers who were infected with the virus at work.
So far, 144 physicians and relatives of 21 deceased doctors have received one-time compensations.
In total, 3,163 medical workers have been infected with COVID-19 in the country, 2,657 of whom have recovered and 83 have died. Enditem
