KABUL, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Three people were shot and killed, and one child wounded by unknown armed men in Afghanistan, the latest in a series assassinations in the war-torn country, sources confirmed on Wednesday.
Suspected militants shot and killed a police officer in a garden next to his house in Zaray district, southern Kandahar province late Tuesday, Mohammad Hashim, police chief of Zaray, told Xinhua.
The district police have launched an investigation into the cease in the region, 450 km south of the country's capital Kabul.
In the meantime, a Kung Fu trainer and one of his trainees aged 15, were gunned down late on Tuesday in Kampani area, Police District 5 of Kabul, a district resident told Xinhua.
The trainer's seven-year-old son was wounded in the shooting which occurred outside his sports club in the populated neighborhood.
The district in the western part of Kabul has witnessed scores of terrorist attacks, including assassinations and bomb blasts in recent years.
No one has claimed responsibility for the incidents yet.
Militants of the Taliban and Islamic State (IS) have conducted scores of targeted attacks against civilians and military officials in recent years, targeting those working for the government, NATO and U.S.-led troops.
