SANTIAGO, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chile's Ministry of Health on Wednesday reported 1,372 cases of novel coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, bringing the national count to 449,903.
Meanwhile, 24 more patients died of the disease, bringing the death toll to 12,345.
The ministry also said that 907 people diagnosed with the disease are currently hospitalized in intensive care units with 680 on ventilators and 121 in critical condition.
To date, the country has administered a total of 3,084,117 tests for the disease.
The ministry reported on Wednesday that PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test positivity rate for COVID-19 rose to 8.81 percent in Chile, the highest in almost two months.
Various cities and towns across the country have gradually reopened and are beginning to adjust to a "new normal," while others have to return to isolation due to a second wave of infections. Enditem
